WALK OF MEMORIES

There will never be a more perfect way to remember friends, loved ones, and family. Now is the chance to be a part of Milby forever. Two very unique areas of the Milby grounds facing Broadway have been dedicated to building the “Walk of Memories”. The Milby Alumni are conducting a sale of “pavers” (engraved bricks) that will contribute to student scholarships and other worthy projects supporting students, faculty, and Milby.  The Walk of Memories is dedicated to all Milby graduates and students. Generations of families have roamed the hallowed halls, sat in the same classrooms are better because of it.

Creating funding sources for the future of our students and our school.

Charles  H. Milby  High  School Memories for ¾ of a Century

On a bright and cheerful morning in 1926, 212 students and 13 teachers took the first steps toward the beginning of the new Charles H. Milby High School located at 1601 Broadway, not far from the ship channel that the school’s name sake was instrumental in planning and developing.  After 75 years Milby can boast of champion athletes, award winning teachers and alumni that dot the annals of history.  Graduates of Milby have become members of the  United States Congress , Texas Supreme Court Justices, Judges, Physicians, Attorneys, successful in stage, screen and radio, business owners,  mothers, fathers, nurses, police officers, firefighters and all other stations in life that make our community rich in its diversity.  The education students received while at Milby leaves its mark and many return to make a contribution to the students who are yet to come.  The  Milby Alumni and Friends Foundation was created to provide access to college scholarships for Milby graduates, provide financial grants and awards to faculty members for continuing education and provide for the enhancement of school facilities and support school activities.  This project, The Walk of Memories, is a major fundraising effort to provide a significant amount of money so that Milby students may have the opportunity to continue their education through college.

Participation in The walk of memories

The Walk of Memories will encase the walk as a visitor enters the front entrance to the building. Gardens of plants and seating areas will greet the students as they enter school each day and the plazas of memories, within the gardens, will reflect memories of times gone by and those who have passed this way.  It is a wonderful way to reflect on memories of high school days, the accomplishments of those days or to remember a family member or friend who is no longer with us.
