A CALL FOR MEMORIES OF MILBY

Earlier this year members of the classes of the l950’s shared their memories, in story form, of growing up in and around Houston and of our experiences during WW2.  We began with talk, through emails, about flowers we had loved as children, enriched by places and people we remember with great fondness.  We found that Milby and the East End is right at the center of our most treasured memories, it is our shared heritage.  A rich vein of writers has been tapped out there in cyber space and I think we all enjoyed doing our memory diary.

With the “80th Anniversary of Milby”, we thought that it would make a nice contribution to the celebration of this year to share, in book form, the experiences we had while at Milby, using real names of all involved and real times and places.  If photos are available we might also be able to include them.  This could be a gift to the current generation of Milby students, helping them to realize that they are a part of a unique and vibrant school, loved by many generations. Not only members of the ‘50’s are being asked to contribute…others of the Milby Alumni might be interested in providing their memories of their days at Milby.

The Alumni Foundation feels this is a worthwhile endeavor and if you have any stories or memories that you would like to share please send them to June Head Zaner (’55) at velmaj@houston.rr.com or Owen Conerly (’56) at conerly@sbcglobal.net or to the Milby Alumni Association at milbyalum@yahoo.com Please send memories no later than April 3, 2006.

Sharpen your pencils!  More information will be made available on the Milby Alumni Web-site.

We invite you to share your memories and important events that make up the history of Charles H. Milby Senior High School.  The "Memories of Milby"  "Lost in the Fifties" will be presented to Milby on October 28, 2006 during our dedication of the Alumni Plaza.
